Southeast Asiawww.asaimsea.comHistory and General InformationUSSEC Southeast Asia has a primary office located in the Republic of Singapore with four regional offices located in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Philippines. The Singapore office also extends its efforts into Malaysia. The American Soybean Association opened the Singapore office in 1979 to serve the Southeast Asia region. Upon its formation in 2005, USSEC assumed responsibility for these offices. All of USSEC's operations in this region are marketed under the ASA-IM brand.Southeast Asia is a growth market for soybeans and soybean meal ranking as the U.S.'s 5th and 3rd, respectively, largest export customer worldwide. The crushing and soyfood industries will continue to rely on soybean imports to meet their needs as local production in the region is static. The feed and livestock industries are expected to grow by a healthy 10-15% over the next few years. This will drive increasing demand for soybean meal; and as poultry, livestock, and aquaculture producers become larger and more technically sophisticated, that demand will shift increasingly to higher quality dehulled soy meal. The use of full-fat soybean meal is also an expanding market. Industry Statistics
